Project Development for Digital Public History Projects

Location: Campus Center, Room 305, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis

Parking Information: The Vermont Street garage (1004 Vermont Street, Indianapolis, IN 46202) is the closest parking garage. It is connected to the campus center. It costs $12.00 to park in this garage for the day.

Walk from NCPH: A conference staff member will be walking over from the Westin Indianapolis at 10:15 am. Meet next to the registration desk. It is roughly a 15 minute 1.1 mile walk.

In this workshop, participants will explore fundamentals of project planning and design in digital public history projects, such as: formulating appropriate questions for digital public history projects, evaluating existing digital tools and resources, and developing potential partnerships and project structures. The workshop will position participants to produce project documentation that will help them seek internal stakeholders, external partners, and potential funders. Organized Participants will get the most of the course if they arrive with at least some sense of a potential digital humanities project that they would like to develop throughout the course. Registration for this workshop is via the National Council on Public History

By the close of this course, I anticipate that participants will have a better grasp on the fundamentals of developing a project idea from inception to fruition with specific insights into how to identify tools and resources, develop and manage project partnerships, and establish project structures.
